Special City Council Meeting Minutes
July 12, 2010

The City Council of the City of Lavaca met for a regular monthly meeting Monday, July 12, 2010, at City Hall in Lavaca. Board members present were Mayor Hugh Hardgrave, Aldermen Mitchel Brewer, Benny Hunter, Rick Edgerton, Jane Ziegler, Greg Gibson and Kenny Hobbs, City Attorney John Verkamp and Recorder Susan Weaver. Visitors present were Randy Toon, Steve Helms, Bob Brisco, Kin Quinata and Ed Bitticks.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Randy Toon led the Pledge of Allegiance. Bob Brisco led in prayer.

The Council approved the minutes of the June regular and special meetings as presented. (KH/BH)

Randy Toon presented the police report for the month of June.

Steve Helms presented the fire report for the month of June. The fire department responded to a vehicle accident, a structure fire and 9 first responder calls with 9 patient contacts.

The Mayor reminded the Council that the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a proposed zoning ordinance and map Monday, July 26, 2010, 7:00 p.m. at City Hall in Lavaca.

The Council approved budget amendments to the Water & Sewer and General Funds to account for an increase in the cost of employee health insurance and the addition of employee retirement coverage. (MB/GG)
